NetInspector

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 23 July 2026

This policy explains what data the NetInspector app (“NetInspector”, “the app”) records, how it is used, and your choices. NetInspector is published by TraLand.com (“we”, “us”). If you have any questions, contact us at support@traland.com.

The short version

What the app does

NetInspector scans the local network you ask it to scan and shows you the devices on it: their names, IP addresses, hardware (MAC) addresses, manufacturers, and open ports. It keeps a history of past scans so you can see when a device joined, left, or changed IP address.

What is stored, and where

To provide scan history and change tracking, NetInspector stores the following on your Mac only, inside the app’s own sandboxed storage:

This information never leaves your device. It is not uploaded to any server, is not accessible to the developer, and is not shared with any third party.

Network access

NetInspector uses your Mac’s Local Network access to discover devices. To do this it sends ICMP echo requests (“pings”), probes common TCP ports, performs reverse-DNS lookups, and browses Bonjour services — only on the address ranges you choose to scan. These are ordinary local-network operations directed at devices on your own network. NetInspector does not contact the developer or any external service, and it transmits none of your data off your Mac.

macOS will ask for your permission before NetInspector can access the local network. You can review or revoke this at any time in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network.

No tracking, no analytics, no ads

NetInspector contains no analytics, crash-reporting, advertising, or tracking technologies of any kind, and no third-party code that would collect data. We do not build a profile of you and do not track you across apps or websites.

Data retention and deletion

All data lives on your Mac and is under your control:

Because we never receive your data, there is nothing for us to retain or delete on your behalf.

Children’s privacy

NetInspector is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
