This policy explains what data the CarWorthUK browser extension (“CarWorthUK”, “the extension”) reads, what it sends, and your choices. CarWorthUK is published by TraLand.com (“we”, “us”). If you have any questions, contact us at support@traland.com.
CarWorthUK shows indicative repair-cost and resale estimates for UK salvage and used cars in a sidebar beside the Copart listing you are viewing. It reads the vehicle details already shown on that lot page, and — when you click to estimate — sends those details to our backend to produce the estimate.
The following is stored only on your device, in the extension’s local browser storage:
This on-device data is not shared with third parties. It is removed if you clear the extension’s storage or uninstall the extension.
CarWorthUK communicates only with our own backend at aiservices.traland.com over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Data is sent only for the actions below.
When you click to run an estimate, the extension sends vehicle attributes — make, model, year, mileage, gearbox, damage type, salvage category and any notes read from the lot or entered by you. These describe a vehicle and are not personal data about you. They are used to generate the repair and resale estimate. Estimates are not run automatically — each one requires an explicit click.
The number-plate lookup is optional. If you use it — by typing a registration, or by viewing a Copart lot whose masked plate the extension reveals for you — the registration mark (VRM) is sent to our backend and on to the UK Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) MOT History service to retrieve the vehicle’s make/model/year, mileage history and MOT defect records, which pre-fill the estimate form. A registration can be personal data. We transmit it to DVSA but do not store it and do not write it to our logs. If you prefer not to send a registration, simply enter the vehicle details manually instead.
To operate the free-trial and token allowance, the extension sends its anonymous device identifier, the platform (“firefox”) and the extension version to our backend. This is used only to track your estimate allowance and is not linked to your identity, because there is no account.
To deliver the service, our backend processes the estimate inputs you submit and the generated estimate. These are retained for a limited period (currently up to 90 days) and then deleted, and are used to operate the service and improve estimate accuracy. We do not use this content for advertising and do not sell it.
On a Copart lot page, CarWorthUK reads the details already displayed — such as make, model, year, damage and salvage category, transmission, delivery quote and sale date — so it can pre-fill the estimate. So that a registration can be looked up, it also reveals the masked plate on the single lot you are viewing, mirroring a click you could make yourself. It is strictly passive and per-lot: it never crawls search results, never fetches other lots, and does not read your Copart account details, login credentials, or payment information. It does not capture, upload, or process any photos.

CarWorthUK provides indicative repair-cost and resale estimates to help you make a decision. They are not a formal valuation, inspection, or repair quote. Costs for salvage and damaged vehicles vary widely, and a listing cannot reveal hidden or structural damage. Always inspect a vehicle and obtain a professional quote before you buy or bid.
CarWorthUK is not directed at children and is intended for adults making vehicle-purchase decisions.
We may update this policy as the extension evolves. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
