CarWorth

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 22 June 2026

This policy explains what data the CarWorth app (“CarWorth”, “the app”) collects, how it is used, and your choices. CarWorth is published by TraLand.com (“we”, “us”). If you have any questions, contact us at [email protected].

Summary

What we collect and why

1. Vehicle and estimate details (provided by you)

When you request an estimate you provide vehicle attributes — make, model, year, mileage, gearbox, damage type/category and any notes. These describe a vehicle and are not personal data about you. They are sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to our backend to generate the repair and market-value estimate and to power the in-app chat about that estimate.

2. Vehicle registration (only if you use the plate lookup)

The number-plate lookup is optional. If you use it, the registration mark (VRM) you type is sent to our backend and on to the UK Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) MOT History API to retrieve the vehicle’s make/model/year, mileage history and MOT defect records, which pre-fill the form. A registration can be personal data. We transmit it to DVSA but do not store it and do not write it to our logs. If you prefer not to send a registration, simply type the vehicle details in manually instead.

3. Estimates and chat content (on our servers)

To deliver the service, our backend stores the estimate inputs you submitted, the generated estimate, and any chat messages you send about it. These are retained for up to 90 days and then deleted, and are used to operate the service and improve estimate accuracy. We do not use this content for advertising and do not sell it.

4. On-device data

Your estimate history and your daily free-usage count are stored only on your device (in the app’s local storage). They are not sent to us and are removed if you delete the app.

5. Diagnostic / access information

Like any internet service, our servers process basic technical information needed to deliver a response (for example, connection metadata). We do not log the contents of your requests or any registration you look up.

Third-party data shown in the app

CarWorth shows information derived from third-party sources, including DVSA MOT records and market pricing data. We access these through their official interfaces. This information is provided for guidance only.

How information is shared

We share data only as needed to run the service:

We do not sell your data or share it for advertising.

Estimates are guidance, not advice

CarWorth provides indicative repair-cost and market-value estimates to help you make a decision. They are not a formal valuation, inspection, or repair quote. Costs for damaged vehicles vary widely, and a description (or photo) cannot reveal hidden or structural damage. Always inspect a vehicle and obtain a professional quote before you buy.

Your choices and rights

Children

CarWorth is not directed at children and is intended for adults making vehicle-purchase decisions.
